The 30-40+ Blogger Meet | London, May 2016

Almost a fortnight ago, I had the pleasure of attending a blogger event hosted by the lovely Catherine Summers from the UK style blog Not Dressed As Lamb, and sponsored by Hope, an innovative British style brand. The daytime event was held in London at a beautiful venue on Kings Road, The Imperial, which was perfect for hosting and lunching the many bloggers who attended.

I arrived a little later than planned due to a wardrobe malfunction which led me astray to Notting Hill in search of a new pair of shoes. But thankfully this mishap didn’t delay me too long, and when I arrived the meet up was in full swing. The bar of The Imperial was buzzing with colourful and vibrant bloggers. A goody bag and a glass of prosecco in hand, I met groups of smiling ladies. Many of whom I recognised instantly from reading their blogs. We spent the next half hour or so chatting, swapping business cards, sharing stories and buying raffle tickets. There were a number of gorgeous prizes on display on the raffle table. I kept my fingers crossed all day I would be one of the lucky winners.

Soon we were ushered in to the restaurant for lunch. I enjoyed a delicious meal and a glass of sauvignon while chatting to a table of lovely ladies. Everyone had a different blogging story to share. Why they blog, what they blog about, and the issues we all face as bloggers and our hints and tips. I really enjoyed getting to know other bloggers. This was only my second ever blogger event and I don’t know any bloggers in ‘real life’.

Some delicious cucumber-infused water – oh, and me!

After lunch, we whipped the notebooks and pens from our goody bags to take notes, as Catherine stood up to present to us on the topic of How To Win At Blogging. I took home some invaluable advice from Catherine, inspiration from her own story and ideas for how to take my blog forward.

Some lively networking took place after Catherine’s presentation, at the tables and in the loos! Everyone was so friendly and open. I ended up meeting some lovely ladies that I hope to stay in touch with. Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to speak to everyone at the event but hope that I will get the chance in the future at another meet up.

Our afternoon was drawing on, and it was time to sit down and be inspired by Nayna McIntosh, the founder of Hope. Nayna kept us rapt as she spoke to her audience about the ethos behind her brand. Hope is a newly-created label that caters to women no matter their age, size or shape. They have simplified their sizing to make it easier to select pieces that will fit and look good. They also devised the Hope Code, which means they create pieces according to the principle of thirds.

These two unique aspects of the brand mean you can walk up to their rails and pick out items which will fit, flatter and elongate you no matter your size or shape. Although I didn’t make a purchase on this particular day, I loved browsing the rails and admiring the clothes on others modelling them. I have my eye on Hope’s Cotton Stretch Ankle Grazer trousers which looked so flattering and comfy.

Sadly it was eventually almost time to go home back to Oxfordshire. I had to dash off at short notice unfortunately, but not before a couple more chats and the raffle. Sadly I didn’t win a prize in but which raised a nice amount of money for The Brain Tumour Charity. It was a lovely day in a gorgeous setting, with wonderful, inspiring and creative bloggers and entrepreneurs aplenty. I left feeling full of renewed enthusiasm for blogging and am looking forward to more events in the future. A big thanks to Catherine and Nayna for a lovely day, and for such a fantastic goody bag! We were all gifted some beautiful items, including macarons, a bracelet from Lizzy O, an eyeliner from Laura Geller, a Burt’s Bees lip balm, a copy of Blogosphere magazine, skincare from Verso and a spritzer from I Love…

Completely unexpected was also the incredibly generous gift to each and every one of us of a stunning merino and cashmere poncho from Hope! Watch out for this beautiful piece making its debut on my blog in an upcoming post.
