Last week I had the pleasure of attending an open day at LA Perfection, an advanced skincare and laser clinic in Witney, Oxfordshire. It was a chance for me to take a behind-the-scenes look at a clinic that uses cutting edge technology and employs the latest beauty treatments. For me, it was a real eye opener as, although I am extremely interested in beauty and the various treatments we can all have, to be quite honest I wasn’t completely clued up on the complete service a clinic like LA Perfection can provide and what the various treatments available actually involve. I also had the chance to chat in detail with LA Perfection’s owner, Lyndsey, and the other lovely ladies that work in the clinic.
LA Perfection provides a whole host of services to both men and women in the area. They range from complete treatments using Dermalogica products, makeup masterclasses using Jane Iredale Skin Care Makeup and tailored nutritional advice with The Advanced Nutrition Programme, to semi permanent makeup, microneedling, IPL skin treatments and laser hair removal, tattoo removal, and botox, fillers and peels.
When I arrived I found Lyndsey at work, creating the most perfect eyebrows I have ever seen. Lyndsey was using a single stroke technique, tattooing on extremely natural looking ‘hairs’. The finished result was amazing and has me very tempted to try this out. The client fell in love with them, and also reported not feeling a thing during the procedure.
Leaving Lyndsey to it, I moved on to watch LA Perfection’s makeup artist, Nicola, demonstrate some of the beautiful Jane Iredale products on her model. This was only my second experience of Jane Iredale, having had my makeup done once with the products. Nicola spoke passionately about the brand, how good it is for your skin because it is natural and contains none of the nasties a lot of our products do, and added that it is a cruelty free brand. We also learnt a huge amount about The Advanced Nutrition Programme, which is a range of supplements designed to promote beauty and wellbeing from the inside out. I am a huge fan of supplementing and truly believe that how we look has a great deal to do with what’s going on inside us, so this really resonated with me. One product I was intrigued to hear about was Accumax, which is being marketed as a natural alternative to the acne treatment Roaccutane. Within the past year I’ve had Roaccutane treatment which was successful at removing all traces of acne but which had some quite brutal side effects. I’ll write more about these in a future post, but it’s suffice to say here that if I had known about Accumax at the time I would likely have tried it first.
I had a tour of the various treatment rooms and got to see the IPL hair removal system close up. I actually had no idea what one of these looked like, or that the laser passed through a crystal directly in to the hair shaft to kill the follicle.
With my past skin problems, I was interested in finding out more about Dermalogica and getting some product recommendations for my skin as it is now. Heidi is LA Perfection’s resident Dermalogica expert and we spoke in depth about many of their products. My mum, who also came along on the day, was able to talk to Heidi and received her own skincare analysis and recommendations. Mum got to try out a few of the products that were tailored to her skincare needs.
With plenty of bubbly to go round and some gorgeous vegetarian and vegan cakes from nearby Eden Cafe, we ended up having a really lovely time and left with lots of new ideas and insights.
One of the main things that struck me about the clinic after my conversations with Lyndsey and her team was the ethos that all skincare issues can be addressed with the right nutrition and the right products. This was particularly true for any issues surrounding ageing, which is my main concern at the moment now I’m inching ever closer to forty. Dr Rob Choa is available at the clinic once a month to perform many treatments such as botox and fillers to tackle fine lines, wrinkles and sagging. However, it’s strongly recommended at LA Perfection that you should focus on addressing these issues first by treating the skin with cutting edge products and by looking at any internal causes. I love this concept, as it made me focus on ways to address ageing that are more affordable and less invasive initially, leaving taking the jump to injectables for as long as possible. It’s also reassuring to know that there are alternatives out there if you don’t want to go down the botox and fillers route and that you won’t have the more drastic treatments automatically suggested to you if you visit the clinic.
LA Perfection is located in the heart of the beautiful and historic town of Witney. Not only does Witney have lots of free parking, but it also has a good shopping centre with many high street brands and a tonne of gorgeous coffee shops and restaurants, so if you plan on visiting LA Perfection you can really make a day of it.
