Sean and I don’t tend to go on that many dates, despite not having any real reason why we can’t, and when we do go on a date it is usually the tried and trusted ‘dinner and the cinema’ version. Not that there’s any problem with doing that, but it’s nice to think outside of the box sometimes and do something completely different. We are always saying we need to schedule more time in for a date night, so when Just Us Box asked if we wanted to try out their subscription box it seemed the perfect opportunity to do this.
Just Us is a new subscription box service with a difference. They want couples to turn off the TV, laptop and phone and get out and about with each other, and each monthly box has a different theme. I received July’s box which had the theme Stargazing. I thought this was lovely, as we don’t get a lot of opportunity to spend much time outside and it’s perfect for the summer months as it’s warmer at night.
The box came beautifully presented and packed full of goodies. Most notably it included a picnic blanket, handheld telescope, thermos and some hot chocolate and sweets. There was also a very cute glass jar, in to which you place little notes about what you love about your other half, some tea lights and a mini torch, and some UV lipsticks and body paint should you decide you want to get a little more intimate on that picnic blanket.
We took our kit out to a beautiful area in the late afternoon and waited for the sun to go down. The box came with plenty of suggestions for activities and games and we amused ourselves with these for a few hours. I found the handheld telescope great for looking at wildlife too during daylight hours.
Then night fell and we had a lovely cosy evening looking up at the stars….it was definitely very relaxing and a step away from what we’d normally think of doing.
Just Us Boxes are available via their website. Each month has a completely new theme with surprise contents. August’s theme is Indian Summer, and next month’s box is themed Pillows and Poetry which sounds intriguing.
I think it’s a lovely idea for couples who want to break out of a date night rut and try something different each month.
