Interior Design Trends 2018: My Favourites From dwell

As someone who is constantly thinking about decorating and redesigning my house (it needs a lot of work), I was interested to find out what the interior design trends are for 2018. I am not really one to be following trends, as I prefer things that are timeless and not fleeting fads. However, I also don’t want to be spending time and money doing up my house in an out of date way. I’ve researched the predicted interior design trends for this year, and am really happy that most of them are things I already gravitate towards. Bright and brooding colours, for example. I’ve been having a look at dwell for design inspiration. They have hit the 2018 interior design trends on the head. If you’re looking to update your home for 2018, take a look at these trends and my suggested buys to bring your home up to date.

Textures

In 2018, popular materials move towards the luxurious look of velvet while keeping the marble trend of recent years. They’re combined with industrial accents of steel, and softer touches of wood and wicker.

Dark Woods

The Scandi trends of lighter and white woods are moving over slightly for the emergence of walnut and other dark woods. Perfect for those who like retro style furniture.

Colours & Prints

Bold and bright colours are set to make a comeback in 2018. They are mixed with dark and brooding colours like emerald green, teal, and navy blue. For prints, pineapples, florals and tropical prints remain popular.

Finishing Touches

To complement the dark woods and soft textures, metals are still popular as finishing touches. I love gold and copper, and these are still up there. Brass, bronze and nickel also come to the forefront this year.

Personally I love the look of vibrant colours, brass and bronze, and tropical prints. I am really happy with the interior design trends this year. I definitely want to incorporate the brighter colours into my home this year. I have stuck to greys and whites in recent years and, although i still love the clean look of those, it’s nice to mix things up and have a change.
