Last updated: December 3, 2022

Preserving our workstation cleanliness and tidiness is the ultimate thing that we should do ourselves even when our company has hired professional office cleaners.

Maintaining the area in which we spend most of our days is important in order to show our responsibility as employees and good human beings. Ensuring that our workspace is clean and tidy, won’t only give great benefit for our health, but also increase our productivity level. Thus, it is crucial to preserve a good standard of cleanliness at the office, and it should never be disregarded.

Regular office cleaning by the hired cleaner will help to keep the big and communal area clean and polished. But sometimes in your personal space, the cleaners won’t do much to clean it. They will be too afraid to mess up or throw your important work documents when doing the cleaning session. Most of the time, the janitor or cleaners will only do light cleaning around your personal area and leave it as it is.

Thus why, usually, our personal space is much dirtier than the other area in the office. When this situation happens, we should ensure that we maintain and clean it by ourselves from time to time. Don’t let our daily activities hinder this important session. You only need a short time to clean your workspace, and it won’t be as difficult as you might anticipate. Continue reading to see what you can do to keep your workspace clean and comfortable.

Maintain The Cleanliness Of The Office Desk

Because you will need to do a lot of things at your desk, it is very possible that your desk will turn into a complete mess and fully cluttered. It will be disorganized with lots of files and other unimportant things on the desk. This is definitely not a good situation. An unclean desk can affect our productivity level, making us feel less energized to complete our work. Thus, ensuring that we keep our desks clean and tidy all the time is very important.

Organizing All Files

One of the best strategies to ensure your desk is free from clutter is by organizing all the files you have, thus it won’t be cluttered on your desks. Working at a company, it is only natural that we will have lots of printed files on our desks or around the area. This is one of the most frustrating things that frequently occur in the office. Lots of files without a proper cupboard or file holder to keep it will only make it look disorganized. Worse, it can be lost when you need the file the most!

To prevent this, you should organize all of your documents in labeled folders. Afterward you can store all of it in a cabinet. Not only organizing it, you should also ensure that everything is marked. This will not only make it easier to find any documents you may need in the future, but it will also make your office look tidy and organized.

Wipe Tables and Chairs with Disinfectant

A table and chair are the two main things that we will use immediately upon arriving at the office. Thus to ensure those two areas are free from viruses, we need to clean them thoroughly from time to time. To simply clean table tops and chairs, you can use soap and water to wipe the areas that people often come into contact with. Then, with a clean cloth, use a disinfectant to once again wipe all the germs on the tables and chairs.

Clean Your Electronics

Clean your electronics regularly to ensure that all food crumbs, spills, or even bacteria and viruses will disappear completely. Thus, you will be able to touch your electronics without worry that they are dirty to begin with.

You won’t have to put in a lot of effort to clean your electronics. You just need to use antibacterial wet wipes and clean all the nooks and crannies in your electronics. Do thorough cleaning and wiping on your keyboard, monitor, office telephone, printer, and even your smartphone! These are the most high-touch surface electronics in your workspace and tend to be the breeding areas for germs and viruses. Thus, you need to maintain its cleanliness.

These are some of the few simple things you can do to keep your workspace clean and organized. A clean and tidy place is indeed the main driving factor for an employee to achieve comfort when working. Thus, it will also help to boost their productivity level and help to maintain their health!
