Jewellery is one of my favourite things to buy, and I’ve created a collection that I’m quite proud of. Jewellery has got to be one of the easiest ways to change your look or update an outfit. I have a mix of inexpensive pieces, with some higher quality items thrown in. I don’t get new jewellery often, but my collection slowly grows. Because of this, I like to have a good storage system for it. It’s important to me to both keep the pieces separate, at low risk from tangles and scratches, and to be able to see exactly what I have. This way I can quickly decide what to wear from a glance.
When we moved house, we brought with us the IKEA Komplement wardrobe interiors that we had in our old place. I have the metal baskets, pull-out trousers hangers, and the pull-out trays. Most of my jewellery is stored in the pull-out trays.
I decided not to go for the jewellery inserts that you can buy from IKEA that fit into the pull-out trays. Because they are divided into sections it meant I couldn’t fit as many pieces of jewellery on to one tray as I could if the trays were left with a flat surface. Instead I bought the Drawer Mat for both trays. This felt mat holds the jewellery in place.
I really like these trays for how easy they make it to see all your jewellery pieces in one go. Necklaces in particular are stored really well like this. They are kept completely tangle-free and you can pick out a piece at a glance.
I keep my bracelets, watches, sunglasses and earrings on these trays. Until recently I had also stored all my rings on the trays. There were a couple of problems with this. By laying the rings flat, I couldn’t see the outer edges of them so had to pick them up to look at them and check they were the ones I wanted. A lot of my rings are very similar i.e. thin bands with tiny details. The ring collection was also growing and I was running out of space on the trays. I now have a separate ring holder that I use to store the more delicate rings.
This ring holder is from Songmics. It’s a black faux leather box with a clear window in the top, and it fastens with two silver clasps.
The ring holder has the capacity to hold 100 rings. As you can see, I now have plenty of space to expand my ring collection!
With the top being see-through, you can see what’s in the ring holder easily. It keeps the rings free from dust and dirt, and holds them perfectly in place. I can now also quickly pick out the ring I want, so it’s much better than when they were all laying on their sides.
I still keep my engagement ring on my dressing table. It sits on this little rose gold rhino from Next.
I now have more space in the flat pull-out jewellery trays.
I get a lot of my jewellery from Etsy as I love to find unique pieces, and to support growing brands. You might like to see the gold jewellery I’ve bought from Etsy in the past.
I love the way my jewellery is organised now, and I love how much more space I have to grow my little collection.
Songmics kindly gifted me the ring holder, and are also giving one away to one of my readers.
It’s a lovely item that I’m very pleased with. It’s nice and study, looks good, and yet is lightweight enough to be able to carry around. You could easily travel with it if you wanted to.
