Alternatives To Conceiving Naturally That Are Worth Exploring

Having a child is something that many people want to experience in life and as a couple or single person trying to conceive, there are natural ways of course but there are also alternatives to conceiving.

Being knowledgeable of what options are available is important because it gives you all of the information you need to make the right decisions for your body, your partner’s, and your needs in general.

Let’s look at some of the alternatives to conceiving naturally that are worth exploring now and in the future of your fertility journey.

Medicines

There are many common fertility medicines that may be helpful to try if conceiving naturally is becoming difficult. These include:

  • Tamoxifen – useful for those who have ovulation problems
  • Gonadotrophins – good for stimulating ovulation in women and improving fertility in men

There’s no guarantee that any of these medicines will work and some may find them more beneficial than others. It’s worth noting there are plenty of others to try and it’s worth speaking to your doctor about all the options available. You may find there are various side effects that come with each of these so it’s important to be aware of what these are for each one.

IVF and IUI

For assisted fertility help, there are a number of options within this category – IVF and IUI. Let’s break these down individually to understand how they work.

IUI – Intrauterine Insemination

IUI is known as artificial insemination. It involves inserting the sperm into the womb by using a thin plastic tube. This plastic tube is passed through the cervix.

Before the sperm goes into the cervix, it’s washed in a fluid and only the fastest moving specimens are selected to hopefully lead to more successful insemination.

IVF – In vitro fertilisation

IVF is where an egg is fertilised outside of the body. There’s also fertility medicine that’s taken to encourage the ovaries to produce more eggs as a result. These eggs are removed from the ovaries, fertilised with sperm in a laboratory and then the embryo is returned to the womb to grow and develop.

Embryo donations

For infertility problems, an embryo donation is also an option. This is usually done using IVF but with donor eggs and sperm instead.

Surgeries

Surgeries are an invasive process and something to talk to your doctor in depth about. There are a number of surgeries that may help when it comes to fertility problems. This damage may be the result of an ectopic pregnancy.

Endometriosis, fibroids, and PCOS are all conditions that have certain surgeries available for them.

Adoption

Finally, you have adoption. There are many babies, children, and teenagers within the system that are reliant on those wishing to become parents or adopt more children into their homes.

It’s worth exploring this opportunity if you’ve exhausted all of the other options or you’re wanting to explore a different route in fertility that doesn’t involve getting pregnant yourself. Everyone is different and has different preferences.

There are plenty of options available for those wishing to get pregnant or become parents for the first time.
