If you fancy a change, now is the perfect time to book yourself a city break. Travelling now means fewer crowds, cheaper accommodation and the chance to see a different side of your favourite cities.

Always pack a black cardigan
For the colder months, cardigans are a great option. They look good, come in a lot of different cuts and are a very versatile item of clothing. Plus, this year, because they are super fashionable, there is plenty of choices.
There are lots of different types of sweaters, and cardigan sweaters are a great and versatile option. You can wear them open or buttoned up, which helps you to create different looks. If you buy a black cardigan it will literally go with anything else you decide to pack. A nice figure hugging one would look great worn buttoned up with a classy pencil skirt. Yet, it will look equally as good when worn with a pair of blue jeans.
Most cardigans are lightweight, which is important if you want to travel with hand luggage only. They are super stretchy too. So, if you really needed to you could wear one over the top of another. If you get too hot, just take one of them off and slide it into the sleeve of your coat.
As I said, black is the colour to go with. It is very flattering and goes with most other colours and when accessorised well can look quite glamorous. Just be sure to choose a cut that flatters your body shape and fits in with the rest of your wardrobe.
Pack clothes you can layer
When deciding what type of tops to pack think first about layering. You can never be sure how warm or cold it will be. So, you want to be able to easily adjust the number of layers you are wearing, as the day progresses.
In the morning, you may need to be wrapped up like the Michelin man. But, at lunchtime, if you get a table in the sun, a t-shirt might be more comfortable. When you dress in layers that is not a problem, you can put on and take off clothes as you need to.
Remember to do the same with the bottom half of your clothing. For example, pack a pair of leggings which can be worn under jeans or on their own.
Keep your extremities warm
If your head, hands or feet are cold you will not be able to warm up. So, always pack a hat, gloves and a pair of shoes or boots that have thick soles.
Stay dry
If you get wet, you will feel miserable all day. So, make sure that your outer layer of clothing is at least showerproof.
Try to pack light
If you follow my tips, you will be able to get everything you need into a single cabin luggage sized bag. So, you can easily travel light and save yourself enough money to pay for a nice meal once you reach your destination.
