What we noticed first about Insight’s cordless lighting solutions was their exceptional battery life, providing anywhere from 17 to 190 hours of illumination, depending on the bulb. This battery life is made possible by the combination of the low-power LED requirements and high-quality battery chemistry. Most lights last several evenings before needing to be recharged.
Replaceable battery architecture
Compared to many consumer-grade lamps that become e-waste when the battery dies, Insight equips its cordless lighting with replaceable professional-grade battery systems. These make it ideal for long-term ownership, allowing homeowners and commercial operations to maintain lamps over the long term without worrying so much about the environmental impact.
Many replaceable batteries are wireless charging compatible, however chargers are sold separately.
Smart fleet management

It’s also possible to select from nine RGB ambient colours to suit mood and setting. We like the fact that these could be adjusted to fit our room’s theme.
Durability and weather-proofing
Finally, we particularly liked the fact that Insight’s cordless lighting comes with built-in durability and weatherproofing. Many models have an IP65 rating for water and dust, making them suitable for both indoor and covered outdoor settings. If you run a restaurant, you can reasonably put these on exterior tables, on covered decking, or in patio spaces.
What we didn’t like so much
No cordless lighting solution is 100% perfect, and there were some things about Insight’s product that we didn’t like so much. None of these issues were game changers, but they’re worth noting depending on what you’re purchasing these lamps for.
One issue was the lengthy recharge time. Many depleted lamps take 4 to 9 hours to fully recharge. If you’re running a busy restaurant or hotel all day and you require indoor lighting on tables, then you’ll need to rotate lamps throughout the day. Of course, once a lamp is charged, it will last for many hours, so it’s often possible to simply charge them overnight every night to ensure that they work continuously. It’s worth reminding staff to be diligent with daytime charging routines.
There’s also the premium price point. Most lamps cost between £50 and £100, so outfitting an entire restaurant with them could be expensive. The upfront investment is often worth it if you’re going for a luxury aesthetic, but it’s one more line item you need to include in your fitouts.
Furthermore, there are some overkill features for casual use. While these lamps are great for hospitality operators, lock functions, commercial charging trolleys, and fleet zone management are mostly unnecessary for the average home user. If you’re planning on buying a luxury lamp for your new apartment, then you may want to look at alternatives designed explicitly for this purpose, without the cost of additional systems.
Final verdict
Despite some minor gripes, we’re giving Insight’s cordless lighting 5 out of 5 stars. The product has exceptional battery life and comes with smart fleet management, which is often essential for hospitality operators. Just be diligent with charging routines to ensure lamps remain functional throughout service hours.
