The Gus & Bella Subscription Box For Cats And Their Owners

As a nation of cat lovers, it’s only right that we should be able to treat our cats as much as we treat ourselves. Subscription boxes are such a fun idea, and you can find them for any interest or hobby from whiskey to perfume. Why not for cats and their owners? It is no secret I love cats.

My cat Zak was featured on my blog over and over before he passed away earlier this year. I now have two new cats, Sam and Pip, who are still young but growing fast, and I love to treat them as much as possible while keeping them happy and healthy. Gus & Bella was founded on the same belief. I was sent a Gus & Bella box to review, and here are Sam and Pip delving into the contents with the inquisitiveness that cats are famous for.

Who Are Gus & Bella?

Gus and Bella are actually cats themselves. They are two beautiful indoor cats whose owners adore them. So much so, that they searched for new ways to entertain and treat them all the time. The idea was formed for a cat subscription box, and Gus & Bella began. The ethos behind the subscription service is that all the products you receive are high quality and good for both you and your cat.

As you’ll read in this cat care guide, healthy cat treats are really important for your cats both for keeping them active and for giving them medications when you need to.

There are different ways to receive a Gus & Bella box, from a one-off delivery to a monthly or bi-monthly subscription.

In each box you receive several toys and treats for your cat, as well as some nice things for yourself. Each box has a different theme, and the contents are a complete surprise. We received a box packed full of treats and titbits I have never bought for my cats before, as well as some fun for the boys. Ted the dog was extremely jealous, as you can see.

My Gus & Bella Box

The box comes beautifully packaged, and the contents inside were in perfect condition. I thought I would open the box on the bed where the cats were sleeping to see how long it took them to realise something interesting was happening. It didn’t take long. As soon as the jingle of the catnip-infused fish teaser Jolly Moggy toy went off, they were up.

Cue chaos as I tried to keep them from trying to eat everything! Pip was clearly wondering who this other black cat was and why it was here.

The fish teaser soon transfixed them both so they dragged it away before I could even take the cardboard off.

In my box I received four sachets of treats and food for cats. These were the Hi-Life Chicken Breast Treats, Purr & Miaow grain-free wet cat food, Blink! chicken and duck shredded fillets, and a sachet of Pawsecco. I was delighted with this as I have seen Pawsecco in lots of places but never bought it for my cats. I always go on about how much I love prosecco, so this gives me a great deal of joy.

Pawsecco is a refreshing and healthy drink for cats. This is the ready-to-freeze version, called a ‘posh-pop’ that your cat can lick. You can also melt it in their bowl.

Some Treats For Me Too

Also in the box were these little lunchboxes with cat motifs.

They fit perfectly inside this Sass and Belle picnic bag, which is a very cute cat lover’s accessory.

I have also always wanted to try Candy Kittens, the vegan-friendly sweets created by Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing. I happily sat at my table tucking into these (I can confirm they are delicious) while reading through the book that came in my Gus & Bella box.

The Test Your Cat IQ Quiz is an interesting read. There are lots of little tasks you can assign to your cat to see just how smart they are.

In addition, you also get a seasonal leaflet with some cat-related news and advice. As I received the summer box, it had some useful tips on keeping cats cool in the summer, recommended products for cats at this time of year, and a cat fact on the back.

We all had a lot of fun diving into the contents of the box. The cats have some brand new treats to try out and a toy which they absolutely adore. I also have some lovely items to keep myself.

How To Subscribe To Gus & Bella

Gus & Bella really is a cat lover’s dream, and would make a lovely gift either for someone you know who is mad about cats, or as a treat for yourself. You can sign up on the Gus & Bella website for either a one-off box or to a subscription. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel your subscription at any time. The contents of some of the past boxes are available to view on the website so you can see the variety of what you will receive. It’s such a fun idea and I just love it, as do Sam and Pip!

“Test your cat” sounds like a fun read. Our old cat Simba was really intelligent, and could open doors by pulling on the handle, could turn on the tap in the kitchen, which had a lever-style tap, and do lots of other feats. Later in life he became completely blind, but could navigate perfectly, and still continued to jump up onto the garden wall without missing it, come and go through the cat flap and do most activities as if he could still see. At the other end of the spectrum, Paris, one of the cats we have now, is definitely “intellectually-challenged” and often does the silliest things, and gets herself into all sorts of scrapes. We love her to bits but she really is a bit dim!

Aren’t cats amazing?! That’s incredible that Simba still knew exactly how to get around despite losing his sight. It must be some sort of inbuilt survival mechanism – he would certainly have been successful in the wild! I love how they are all so different too. Sam and Pip are changing by the week it seems and their personalities are really evolving as they grow.

It’s always fascinating to see their personalities develop, and how each cat becomes a distinct individual. I never consciously treated any of our cats differently, but some have been bolder, some more shy, some really independent and off exploring outside, and some wanting to spend most of their time indoors being cuddled. We have 4 cats at the moment, and they are all very different, but all lovable.
