It works with a lot of different lip looks and is a great base for a wide range of colors from nude lipsticks to deep purple and red colors.
The big issue, however, is that MAC is an expensive brand and their makeup products all come at a higher price point than drugstore makeup.
MAC’s lip pencils retail for $24 USD (or £20 / €26).
Even though they are quite long lip pencils and you get 1.45g of product per pencil, the retail price is still on the expensive side.

What color is MAC Cork Lip Liner?
MAC themselves describe this color as a ‘muted golden brown.’
It is one of their more neutral shades but does have warm undertones.
Cork works well as a nude lip liner, especially for dark skin. If you have a lighter skin tone it will look like a darker shade of nude and will give a fairly 90s brown look.
You can use Cork on the outer edge of the lips like a regular lip liner, and pair it with lots of different nude lip shades in lipstick form.
Cork also looks great if you use it alone to fill in your entire lip, and you can also use it to overline your lips slightly for a fuller lip look if you have thin lips.

This Morphe lip liner is a very inexpensive MAC Cork lip liner dupe and has a nice creamy texture which makes application a breeze.
Just like the ColourPop lip liners, the Color Pencils from Morphe are a very long-lasting lip liner and I find they have excellent color payoff.
Bite Me is a dead ringer for MAC’s Cork and again it is super affordable.

The Suede Matte Lip Liners from NYX are, as their name suggests, matte liners. I have a lot of these shades and I love to use them as lip primers too because they are so matte yet creamy and comfortable to wear.
The shade Downtown Beauty is a classic brown lip liner that is an outstanding MAC Cork liner dupe.
The price makes them such a great alternative to MAC Cork. You simply cannot go wrong with these drugstore liners.
4. LA Girl Lipliner Pencil in GP559 Toast $3
There are affordable drugstore prices, and then there’s this $3 liner from LA Girl which blows those out of the water.
It’s an extremely affordable Mac Cork dupe which will give you the same precise line and color of your lips as Cork.

I can’t get enough of Juvia’s Place lip liners. They rival the NYX lip liners in terms of creaminess and pigmentation.
These just glide on, giving a very defined lip look if you want it.
The color So Rare is a very close match to MAC Cork. Just pop a bit of lip balm or clear lip gloss over this dupe and no one will be able to tell the difference.

This lip liner pencil comes in the Elf Retro Paradise Line & Shine Lip Kit which contains several colors alongside it to create a classic 90s look.
Elf are a cruelty free and vegan brand, and I find all their products to be really high quality despite having such low price points. It’s one of my personal top brands from the drugstore, and they make excellent MAC dupes.
Nude 03 is a really great Cork liner dupe.
10. Milani Understatement Lip Liner in Shoop $12.75
This color comes from a limited edition Salt N Pepa collection so if you have this in your makeup stash you already own a Cork lip liner dupe.
It can be a little hard to find but you can usually pick this kit up on eBay.
I find that if you use a high-end product like MAC Cork on a daily basis, it makes perfect sense to pick up a cheaper dupe if you can to save yourself some money.
