Car Packing Tips For Short Family Breaks

Summer has started, and that means more opportunities to get the whole family out and about. It’s time to pack up the kids and the grandparents, and head out to experience the best of the UK’s beaches and countryside. Fitting lots of people into the car as well as all the essentials you need for your short family break is not always easy. A little planning can go a long way. These car packing tips should help make life easier.

Pack In Reverse Order

Place items in the boot first that you won’t need until last. This could be bedding if you are arriving in the morning. However if you’re getting to your destination late at night, pack it last so that you can quickly get it out as soon as you arrive. The kids can go straight to bed if they’re tired. A little extra time spent planing your car packing strategy will go a long way.

Only Take What You Need

It sounds obvious, but many of us are guilty of overpacking items ‘just in case’. Be ruthless and remember that you can usually buy anything you need if you’re staying in the UK. If you forget something important it doesn’t always matter, but there is no need to pack everything and the kitchen sink. Stick to the essentials.

A mini size simple suitcase helps ensure that all the items needed for the trip are organized, protected, and fit in one place. Not only is this mini size handy to travel with, but it also offers peace of mind knowing that no matter where the journey takes you, all the essentials will be together when you arrive at your destination.

Look For Extra Space In The Car

If you really do bring a lot of things with you, then try to be inventive with car space. Areas like the gaps around the spare wheel and jack, for example, are perfect for storing smaller fragile items. Think about footwells by smaller children, and perhaps even a roof box.

Don’t Take Food With You

Food for a whole family takes up a lot of space. Think about ordering a food delivery for when you arrive at your destination. You could also designate someone to head to the supermarket with a pre-written shopping list once you’ve unpacked. Only pack the car with snacks and drinks for the journey.

Give Everyone Independence

If you have family members with mobility problems, think about providing them with an electric folding wheelchair. Everyone should be able to get out and about to enjoy the summer. Fenetic Wellbeing’s #FoldAndGo campaign is all about showcasing the benefits of electric folding wheelchairs for convenience, independence and an active lifestyle. I feel this is so important to promote, as everyone deserves the same holiday as others. There is so much to see in the UK and no one should be excluded for mobility issues. An electric folding wheelchair is space saving and allows the user the ability to travel.

Use these car packing tips to ensure your whole family can travel with you on your short break this year. Enjoy your summer!
