4 Tips to Allow Your Mindset To Impact Your Fitness Journey

Regarding your fitness journey, your mindset plays a key role in how you view your abilities and results. It can also be the deciding factor between quitting or continuing to train. Whether it’s getting more muscle or losing weight, your mindset will play a major role in all of this. Your mind is going to be the biggest factor in whether or not you can even reach your fitness goals. So, how can you let your mindset improve your fitness journey for the better? Keep reading on to learn how!

Embrace Failure

While the idea of failure is terrible, why not embrace it? It’s an important part of developing a growth mindset and will help you make more progress on your fitness journey. Think of a baby learning to walk or run – they may fall down several times but never give up. They don’t quit because they know it takes practice to master walking. Instead, they try again and again until they have mastered it. Prepare for success, but keep on trying in the process.

Don’t Quit

While pursuing your fitness goals, it is easy to get overwhelmed and frustrated. You may feel like you aren’t putting enough effort into your workouts or haven’t seen results yet. But when it comes to this journey, you need to think about how much time it takes to see results; it usually takes about nine weeks of consistency to get to where you want to be. If this feeling continues, it could be time to reassess your motivation. Changing your mindset to value the process rather than the result can help you keep going and achieve bigger goals.

One of the biggest reasons people quit is that they get bored with their workouts. Whether running, weightlifting, or walking, finding something you enjoy and can stick with for the long haul can make all the difference in your workouts. Make sure you’re doing what you can so you won’t quit. This can include changing up your diet, trying RAD-140, or maybe it can be as simple as working out with someone.

Focus on the Now

Don’t let yourself get discouraged just because you don’t have other people’s results. Instead, keeping our minds focused on the present moment is crucial to health and success. Living in the present moment can be hard to achieve, but with practice, it can become a habit that you carry with you everywhere you go. Practicing mindfulness is a great way to develop this skill. When it comes to your fitness journey, just give yourself some time to get to where you want to be.

Be Kind to Yourself

The most important part of being kind to yourself is practicing self-compassion. Treating yourself like you would treat a friend or family member is one of the best ways to practice this. Some people can do this naturally, but others struggle. They may be plagued by an inner voice that tells them they’re not good enough, don’t deserve it, or will never succeed. Just remember that being kind to yourself is a great way to counteract this negative self-talk, which is usually accompanied by feelings of shame and anxiety. And it can help you learn to trust yourself more easily.

The next time you hear your inner critic dragging you down with negative thoughts, try engaging it in a conversation. Ask it what’s behind those thoughts and try to understand it’s underlying fears and needs. It may feel awkward initially, but you’ll be surprised by how easy it is to change your inner dialogue.
