Flying soon? Here’s how to make air travel more comfortable

For some travellers (no matter how experienced), getting to a destination is never fun. Sure, flight delays can undoubtedly make your flight stressful, but you know what else can kill your excitement for exploring a new place?

Arriving at your dream destination jet-lagged and tired. Air travel shouldn’t feel uncomfortable and draining but a pleasant experience.

So, make sure you start your trip on the right foot by checking out the tips below.

Pick a good airline

Choosing an airline for your trip is an important consideration, as it can make an entire difference in whether your flight will be comfortable or not. Consider factors like service accuracy, cabin comfort, service of food and drinks, and so on. Also, make sure to check reviews on customer service, as this is an aspect that will impact your flying experience.

Everything matters, including how your tickets are processed and how the air hostess or steward welcomes you and addresses your concerns.

Also, look out for loyalty programs – this is especially important if you tend to travel by plane frequently. These days, many airlines provide memberships and loyalty programs, which give you access to different facilities, such as seating class upgrades and the use of a lounge, among other things.

Arrive at the airport early

Early airport arrival should be a priority because it will make the boarding process seamless, even if unforeseen delays occur. It’s always better to have extra time on hand, allowing you to handle security checkpoint issues, long queues, and so on.

The reality is that you can never know for sure whether everything will go as smoothly as you want – it may not, and instead of stressing out if that happens, you can balance these risks by arriving early at the airport.

Instead of worrying about parking your car once you arrive at the airport, consider booking a parking spot to eliminate any trouble you may face.

Airports like Heathrow tend to be really busy, so it’s best to save time by finding a good deal early on. Look for airport parking heathrow online and compare the different options available for your vehicle. You can choose from different parking options, such as Park and Ride, Meet and Greet, etc, so you should take a look at them and pick one based on your needs. For example, if you have lots of flight cases, you may want to opt for the Meet and Greet option, which allows you to hand over the keys of your car to a valet who will drive your vehicle to the parking spot you have previously booked.

Just make sure to choose a reliable parking service like parkos to ensure a seamless experience and have peace of mind knowing that your vehicle will be safe while you are away.

Dress for comfort

There has been a long debate on what it’s best to wear on an aeroplane, and while there’s no right or wrong way to dress when travelling by plane, it’s always essential to dress comfortably. Your clothes should not be restrictive and cut off your circulation or leave you feeling either too cold or too hot.

Suppose you move between climate extremes; in this case, it’s best to opt for layers, as this will allow you to remove your jacket or sweater and put it back on when necessary.

When trying to figure out what to wear on the plane, don’t pick the best pieces of your wardrobe, but rather, opt for breathable ones. If you’re afraid that you’re going to sacrifice style, we’re here to assure you this won’t likely happen. Besides, who says comfort can’t be fashionable as well?

Bring in the essentials

Your flight experience can be quite uncomfortable if you don’t bring flight essentials with you.

Just imagine boarding a flight with a low battery and realising that the aeroplane doesn’t have a USB charging port. It can be quite stressful!

There are some flight must-haves, such as noise-cancelling headphones, hand sanitiser, a travel pillow, compression socks, snacks, and more. All these essentials will make your flight experience feel less tiring and stressful and more enjoyable and comfortable. So, when planning for air travel, make sure to check out whether you’ve packed the most important items that will ensure you will arrive at the destination feeling energetic and ready to explore the surroundings.

Keep yourself entertained

Do you know what can make air travel less comfortable? Feeling bored during the entire flight! This will drain the vibe of the trip, so you should avoid it by preparing entertainment in advance. Download your favourite movies, TV series, or podcasts, or immerse yourself in a great book.

Thanks to technology, it is now possible to carry a library of books with you everywhere you go – which can be particularly beneficial during air travel, saving valuable bag space.

Also, if you feel comfortable enough to do this, consider chatting to a fellow passenger – you never know how this could turn out to be the start of a great relationship! Just allow yourself to be open to such an opportunity.

Stay hydrated

Aeroplane cabins have low humidity levels, making dehydration an issue for passengers.

So, make sure to bring a large water bottle with you to avoid relying on flight attendants and ensure you will be hydrated during the flight. Aim to drink 8 ounces per hour when flying, as this will help your body work optimally.

Besides drinking water, you can also eat foods high in water to help you stay hydrated. For instance, oranges, melons and grapes provide vitamins that will boost your energy while flying. Eat fruits and veggies, and avoid snacks like salty chips that make you thirsty.

Ready for a comfortable flight?

Flying to a dream destination can be exciting, but the whole experience can be ruined by the smallest things you may not even think of.

So, when planning to travel by plane, make sure to consider these tips, as they will help ensure you will make the most of your flight experience and arrive at the destination well-rested and excited for the adventure ahead.
