Celebrities adore Givenchy, from royalty to actresses to the Kardashians. Continue reading to learn more about the Givenchy brand, its popularity among A-listers, and why it’s so popular.
Who Is Givenchy?
Hubert De Givenchy, a French designer, founded the house of Givenchy in 1952. It is one of the most prestigious fashion companies on the planet, known for its haute couture clothing, accessories, scents, and cosmetics.
When Hubert De Givenchy was just 25, he released the first Givenchy collection, which was called ‘Separates.’ The collection included a mix-and-match selection of pieces designed to appeal to women at the time who were restricted and un-practical apparel.
In 1955, Givenchy produced the shirtdress, which became a standard item in French men’s wardrobes. Givenchy also popularised short skirts, which have barely been out of fashion since.
Originally, the brand was intended to appeal more to women than men. However, in the late 1960s, Givenchy Gentleman was created – which was well-liked by men all around France. The Givenchy perfume was developed a few years after, and you can still purchase versions of it today.
Celebrities Spotted In Givenchy
The Kardashians
Givenchy has been seen on the Kardashian and Jenner families numerous times, and of course as social media powerhouses that they are, discussing the brand and its designs on a regular basis.
The famous family has also shown their support for the fashion house’s newest creative director, Matthew Williams. Last year, he debuted his first Givenchy collection and, as predicted, it was a big success. Kim Kardashian wore a fierce Givenchy gown for the photo. Kendall and Kylie Jenner also supported Williams’ debut line – Kylie Jenner wore a Givenchy baby pink mini dress and Kendall wore a black leather suit.
Audrey Hepburn
Givenchy may not have reached the heights it did without the assistance of Audrey Hepburn, many people believe.
Hubert de Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn met for the first time in 1953, which began a wonderful friendship and professional collaboration.
The tiny black dress worn by Hepburn in the 1961 blockbuster Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of Hepburn-Givenchy’s most recognisable collaborations. The Givenchy dress for Hepburn’s character is widely recognised as one of the most influential gowns in the history of costume design.
Meghan Markle
Clare Waight Keller designed Meghan Markle’s wedding dress. She was the first female artistic director of Givenchy, and during her three-year reign at the brand, she released many classic pieces.
Within a year of becoming artistic director, Wight Keller met Markle, who had nothing but positive remarks about the fashionista.
She was also seen wearing a classic black Givenchy coat on Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph, and she attended the 2018 British Fashion Awards in a beautiful black Givenchy dress to commemorate the brand and designer, Claire Waight Keller.
The Power Of Givenchy
Givenchy, which is among the world’s most well-known fashion brands, is an honor for any celebrity to be connected with.
Givenchy has been designing stylish, fashionable, and innovative designs for almost 70 years, so whenever you see a Givenchy design, you can be certain that it will be high-quality and extremely elegant.
