I absolutely love trying out makeup and makeup brushes from brands that are new to me. Niré Beauty is a new brand which specialises in cruelty free and vegan friendly makeup brushes and accessories. They make these absolutely gorgeous brushes, and some of the most ingenious storage and travel solutions I’ve seen.
Who Are Niré Beauty?
Pronounced ‘near-ay’, Niré Beauty hand-craft all of their makeup brushes. They use LuxePro fibres which are hypoallergenic, and there is not an animal hair in sight. This vegan brand uses only high quality synthetic fibres, and their brushes come beautifully packaged.
They make and sell individual makeup brushes as well as complete sets and a range of accessories such as sponges, cleaning tools and travel cases.
I’ve been fortunate to try out a couple of their brush sets.
The Niré Beauty Next Level Kabuki Brush Set
Kabuki brushes are my favourite kind of brushes and I use them for almost everything. I love the densely packed fibres of a kabuki brush for any kind of blending work. They’re great for liquids and powders, and leave a flawless finish. This brush set contains 11 makeup brushes and a brush cleaning tool.
They come in this absolutely awesome storage case. This is a sturdy faux leather case that splits into two separate brush holder pots. This is one of my favourite things about these sets. The case makes these perfect for travelling with. Not only do you get a strong case that clips together to store all your brushes during travel, but you also get two pots to store them in when you get to your destination. No more stuffing them into makeup bags, bending the bristles and covering them in makeup. It also makes getting ready when travelling so much easier.
There are three larger kabuki brushes; the 146 HD Fan Kabuki, 143 Tapered HD Kabuki and the 142 Smooth Angle HD Kabuki. You can use all of them to blend liquid or cream products like foundation. The 142 is the perfect shape for under the eye so you can pat in and set concealer.
The Next Level set also contains the 149 Duo Fibre Fan. Fan brushes are ideal for applying highlighter to the cheekbones. This is really light so there’s no risk of overloading the product and ending up looking like a disco ball.
The 155 Concealer brush can be used to spot conceal any blemishes. I have some pigmentation from the sun and redness around my nose that this works great for. Then there are several detailing brushes for the eyes, plus a blending brush. Finally, the set contains the 209 Deluxe Spoolie and the PureForm Silicone Brush Cleaning Tool.
The 209 is the largest spoolie brush I have ever seen. It’s double-ended, and the longer end is bendable so you can adjust it to the shape of your brows. The smaller end is great for separating lashes after mascara.
The Brush Cleaning Tool is a little silicone glove that fits over two fingers. Dip your brush into your favourite brush cleaner and then work the bristles into the ridges. This dislodges old makeup and cleans your brushes thoroughly. This is essential for clear skin particularly if you’re acne-prone like me.
The Next Level Kabuki Brush Set is a great option if you’re looking for a brush set that can blend everything to perfection. With these brushes, you can apply primer, foundation, mineral powder, concealer, blush and eye makeup.
The Niré Beauty Artistry Set
This set is the perfect full face makeup brush set. It comes with 12 full size makeup brushes, the brush cleaning tool and the awesome storage system. In addition it has a makeup blending sponge.
Lots of these brushes have slightly longer handles than the kabuki set. They’re designed to be longer when a softer touch is required. The shorter brushes are used for more precision work.
For the face, you get the 140 HD Flat Top Kabuki which can blend your foundation, whether it’s liquid, cream or powder. You could also use this for primer as your first step in your routine. The 110 Soft Focus Concealer brush has a domed shape which can get into the corners of the eyes to apply and blend concealer.
To finish off your face you can use the 103 Soft Focus Powder brush, 104 Angled Blush brush and the 102 Contour/Highlight brush.
These are so nice to use because they are so extremely soft. The brushes do not scratch the skin at all. They also apply products really evenly.
For the eyes, you get a range of different-shaped brushes. There’s the 205 Precise Eye Shadow, 202 Angled Eye Shadow, 203 Large Eye Shadow, and 204 Eye Shadow Blending brush.
To follow up with liner, you can use the 207 Eyeliner brush, which I like to use to apply eyeshadows as eyeliners. I find this is great for a softer look. You can blend this out further with the 206 Pencil brush. This one is also good for applying darker shadows to the very outer corners of the eye before blending out.
The double ended 201 Slanted/Spoolie brush has a slanted end for applying powder to the brows, and a spoolie to brush and tame brows and separate eyelashes.
With this set you also get the Foundation Blending Sponge. You wet this sponge, squeeze it out and use damp. It can apply and blend all your face products. Then of course you also get the cleaning tool.
The Niré Beauty Artistry Set is perfect if you want a brush set that can do everything. With this you can do all your face makeup including blush and contour, a complete eyeshadow and liner look, and your brows. Just add a lip product and go!
My Verdict
These brushes are supremely soft and a joy to use. I love synthetic brushes for the fact they are cruelty free. They also don’t absorb products like natural bristles do. It’s a more economical way to apply your makeup. You don’t waste any products because they are not sucked up by the brush fibres.
These brushes apply makeup perfectly. They pick up products really well and blend out beautifully. The handles feel like good quality and I love the classic silver ferrules. Niré Beauty also make their brushes with rose gold ferrules.
They haven’t shed any bristles yet, and have cleaned up really well especially when using the cleaning tool. One of my favourite aspects to this brand, of course, are the absolutely fab storage tubes which turn into brush pots. For me this is a huge selling point. These are also good for keeping dust off your brushes, ideal if you don’t use them every day. For my makeup, I use acrylic storage to keep it dust free.
