Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick dupes

Last updated: February 7, 2025

Very few beauty products have reached the dazzling levels of hype as Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Lipstick and Lipliner.

In recent years, they have become some of the bestselling makeup items of all time, with apparently one being sold every two minutes somewhere in the world back in 2019.

Since then, the Pillow Talk collection has expanded to include darker shades, lip gloss, eyeshadow palettes and blush, and even an eyeliner and mascara.

Charlotte’s Pillow Talk shade is one of the most loved shades in the beauty industry and it looks like it’s here to stay for a long time.

However, Charlotte Tilbury products are not cheap and for many the price tag is just too high to justify spending on a lip product. This can be the case even if this shade is meant to be flattering on every skin tone.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Lipstick retails for $35 USD (or £28 / €34)

Fortunately if you’d love to try the most popular Pillow Talk products out, but either can’t get hold of them or would rather spend less money to see if it’s something that you like to wear, there are some amazing Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupes listed below.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipsticks

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Original Lipstick dupes

These are dupes for the original shade of Pillow Talk lipstick which was launched in 2013. It was inspired by the nude-pink shade that Charlotte Tilbury used to mix by hand when working on the faces of celebrities and supermodels in the 1990s.

Most of these Pillow Talk lipstick dupes are a mere fraction of the price of the real deal and will give you an almost identical shade on your lips to this most famous Charlotte Tilbury lipstick.

Flower Beauty Petal Pout Lipstick In Spiced Petal $9

This is by far one of the best Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk dupes and it is just so affordable. The color is a spot on dupe for the original Pillow Talk shade.

Flower Beauty is Drew Barrymore’s makeup brand, and their products are all cruelty free. This lipstick contains hydrating castor seed oil, and candelilla wax which is a natural vegan alternative to beeswax.

Revolution Satin Kiss Lipstick in Chauffeur $7

Described by Revolution as a light brown toned nude, this is a near perfect dupe for the original Pillow Talk lipstick.

These lipsticks have a lovely creamy formula, are cruelty free and of course the price point is excellent.

Milani Color Statement Lipstick in I Am Smart $7.99

This semi-matte lipstick from Milani is very comfortable to wear and has a creamy satin finish. It’s a really good budget-friendly Pillow Talk lipstick dupe.

Milani is one of the best drugstore brands in my opinion as their products are so reasonably priced and good quality too.

Revlon Super Lustrous The Luscious Mattes Lipstick in 003 Pick Me Up $6.50

Widely known as one of the best dupes for Pillow Talk, Pick Me Up is the same beautiful color but of course it doesn’t have the high end price tag.

The only downside to this lipstick is that Revlon is not a cruelty free product unfortunately (whereas Charlotte Tilbury is).

LA Girl Matte Flat Velvet Lipstick in Snuggle $4.49

Being a matte lipstick, this has a very long lasting formula which means you won’t have to reapply this lipstick too often. It contains shea butter too so it’s not overly drying like a lot of matte lipsticks.

The shade Snuggle is an amazing Pillow Talk dupe in that same medium pink shade we all know and love.

Mac Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy $23

OK so bear with me on this one. We all know that MAC does not have drugstore prices, but at $23 this is significantly less expensive than Charlotte Tilbury and it’s a really popular product in its own right.

The shade Velvet Teddy is such a great dupe for the original Pillow Talk lipstick shade that it’s hard to tell the two apart. Sadly MAC is not cruelty free, but these shades are dead ringers.

L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Les Nus Intense Lipstick in 173 Nu Impertinent $10.99

This is one of the latest Pillow Talk lipstick dupes to go viral on TikTok.

It has had so much attention because of its close similarity to the universally flattering shade of the original Pillow Talk lipstick. Note: L’Oréal is not a cruelty free brand.

This cruelty free and vegan lipstick has a soft velvet matte finish but is enriched with hyaluronic acid to keep lips plumped and hydrated throughout the day.

The color Secret is such a great drugstore dupe for Pillow Talk. And despite the much lower price tag, everyone on TikTok comments on how luxe this lipstick feels as it has such a creamy texture for a drugstore product.

It’s suitable for all skin tones but looks particularly great on darker skin tones.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Pillow Talk so good?

Pillow Talk lipstick is so popular because of its universally flattering nude-pink shade, versatile and long-lasting formula, and the expertise of renowned makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury. It offers a comfortable, creamy texture and coordinates well with other products in the Pillow Talk collection.

What color is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick?

The original Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick is a muted, medium pink with the perfect balance of both warm and cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It is often described as a perfect nude lipstick, but it can also be worn as a more vibrant pink. Like many nude colors it tends to look different on everyone.

Is Pillow Talk universally flattering?

Charlotte Tilbury herself describes the original Pillow Talk shade as universally flattering on all skin tones. The shade is a muted pink that is not too light or too dark, and it does not have any harsh undertones. This makes it a good choice for people with fair, medium, and dark skin tones. This pinky-brown shade is now a cult product around the world which many brands have tried to emulate.
If you are concerned that Pillow Talk original will be too light for you or will wash you out, take a look at the Medium or Intense shades which are a touch deeper and with more of a berry tone.

What is the MAC equivalent of Pillow Talk?

The shade Velvet Teddy from MAC, originally launched in 2004, is a pretty much exact match for the original Pillow Talk lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury. It’s very hard to tell the two apart in swatches.

Is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk warm or cool?

Pillow Talk can be called a neutral shade as it has a mix of both cool and warm undertones. Despite being one single shade, Pillow Talk Original manages to look different on everyone. The mix of pink and brown seems to adapt to your skin tone to flatter and enhance your natural coloring.

Are there different Pillow Talk lipsticks?

The original Pillow Talk shade, which is a nude pink with a hint of brown, was originally hand mixed by makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury backstage at fashion shows. Charlotte has also brought out a couple of new Pillow Talk lipstick shades; Pillow Talk Medium which is also matte, and Pillow Talk Intense which is a semi-matte finish.

Which celebrities wear Pillow Talk lipstick?

Pillow Talk has been seen on the likes of Kylie Minogue, Alexa Chung, Emma Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Michelle Williams. Famously, Poppy Delevingne and Amal Clooney also each wore the lipstick shade Pillow Talk on their wedding day.

This is a great list and a well-written article. Your whole site is wonderful! I’ve tried Pillow Talk original & its iterations several times and they just never look good on my cool-toned complexion. They all pull super-orange on me. I got a mini-set of Pillow Talk Fair lipstick & liner when they came out last year, but had to doctor them with other products – – neither looked right on its own. PT Fair is too chalky a shade and weirdly still lacking a blue undertone. CT’s clever marketing that PT looks good on everyone has been effective, but it’s just not true. It’s jarring when I see a cool-toned person wearing a brownish-orange lipstick and/or lip liner, and I see it way too much.

Thank you! It’s very interesting to read your comments about this lipstick as it seems it is not universally flattering 🙂
