What Hair Salons Can Do To Attract More Customers

Last updated: May 22, 2026

Attracting more customers to a hair salon is a never ending process. Whether or not you’re booked up to the brim with customer appointments, you need to know that same regularity is going to continue into the future.

As such, you’re going to need to invest in your market on an ongoing basis – as well as try to expand what you offer your clients on the whole.

And thankfully, hair cuts are the kind of thing people are always wanting to book, so you can be sure there are more clients out there for you!

But to make the process a bit simpler, here’s what you can do as a hair salon owner to bring more eyes (and hair!) your way.

Talk About the Salon Experience

What will a client get when they come to you for a hair cut that they can’t get anywhere else? This is your chance to brand yourself according to the experience your clients are really after.

Is your salon a comfortable, cosy, and quiet place, where someone can relax and enjoy a bit of peace? Or is it somewhere a bit more eclectic and upbeat, with a bit of an edge to it?

Either way, make sure you firmly stance yourself in what kind of salon you are. If you’re able to guarantee the right atmosphere up front, you’ll bring a lot more like minded people your way.

Offer Other Hair Treatments

It’s not just cuts and colours you can provide. You can also offer a wealth of other hair related treatments outside of your main service range.

You already cut hair, so why not invest in alma lasers and start offering hair removal in other areas of the body? Alternatively, you can start offering waxing services, if you don’t have the space or time available to get a machine set up.

You can then market your new service as part of a general spa experience, which is something hair salons are expanding into more and more.

If people know you offer a good haircut experience, as well as help them take care of ‘unsightly’ hairs, you’ll start to become the one stop shop they turn to for all of their beauty needs.

Take Before and After Photos

It’s an age-old trick that’s been around as long as cameras have been a part of marketing, but so many salons forget to take before and after photos of their clients’ hair treatments.

You want there to be as much proof as possible that someone can get the exact look they’re after when they come to you. Provide this upfront and they will, in fact, call up to get booked in!

And if it’s possible for you, start filming before and after videos instead. This is more eye catching content on the social media landscape, and lets the before and after experience become just a bit more personal.

When your hair salon is running low on customers, try out the tips above!
