Must-Haves for Traveling with Baby

Last updated: March 14, 2026

Some parents, when they just start thinking about traveling with a baby, feel anxiety mixed with madness. However, does a holiday trip with children have to be a source of stress and trauma for parents? Of course not! In this article, we suggest what to take with you to make traveling with an infant easy and enjoyable and to make holidays with children a pleasant and relaxing time for the whole family.

Wet wipes

Probably every parent will admit that wet wipes are a must-have during every trip, especially when traveling with a baby.

They are useful for cleaning hands and mouths covered with melted chocolate, they are great at cleaning mud from kids trainers and, of course, they are irreplaceable when changing a diaper.

Diapers and accessories

A set of disposable diapers, a travel changing pad, or a nappy cream are other necessary accessories that you should have at hand on a journey with a baby.

Comfortable blanket

Babies sleep most of the time in the car, and when sleeping, even in summer, it is nice to be covered with something; it gives more comfort.

On hot days, it is good to take a light blanket or a bamboo swaddle with you. A critical thing to remember, especially in the fall-winter season, is not to carry children in the car in jackets.

The jacket does not allow the seat belts to be tightened properly, which may lead to the child slipping out of the seat.

In winter, you can use a special poncho that will serve as an outer garment and provide the child with thermal comfort. It can also be an ordinary blanket.

Food

If you plan a longer trip with a baby, such as if you’re traveling in the US with a baby, take care of travel snacks well in advance.

If you are traveling with an infant, consider taking a ready to feed formula HiPP, which is irreplaceable during trips for moms who use baby formulas. Such products do not require any preparations. You just open the bottle and feed your baby with a ready-made mixture. Be cautious however and monitor their formula especially if your baby is not pooping.

The bib

When traveling with a baby, remember to take a bib, preferably a silicone one, which can be easily cleaned with water or wet wipes.

Travel toys

When traveling, kids get bored. It is enough to prepare a set of travel toys that will be real salvation on the plane, in the car, or on the beach. Infants, toddlers, and even preschoolers often show great attachment to places and things.

The favorite cuddly toy can become a great link between what the child knows, where it feels safe, and something new, unknown.

Books

They are perfect when traveling with an infant, as well as with a preschooler or an elderly child.

When going on the road with a baby, take a few books, which the child can browse on its own. A toddler will likely want to choose his favorite books himself, so it’s worth giving your kid a choice and suggesting taking a few books on the trip.

You can also try to keep your child busy with an audiobook. By letting children listen to their favorite fairy tale, you can keep them occupied for a long time, and if you are lucky, you may even be able to make them fall into a blissful traveling nap, comforted by a quiet story.
