How to Show your Friends that You Care

If you’ve got a strong network of close friends in your life, then it’s worth taking the time to demonstrate your feelings for them. This will reinforce your bonds, and ensure that the friendship is stronger in the long run. Plus, if you really do care about someone, then saying so can be a reward in and of itself.

Listen to what they say

Most of the conversations you have with friends will be idle small talk. But you might occasionally take things deeper with a meaningful conversation. Not everyone’s comfortable doing this, and you might find that you have an easier time with it if you make a conscious effort to listen to what your friend is saying.

Use texts or handwritten notes

Checking in every once in a while, with a text message (or whatever your preferred encrypted messaging app might be) can be invaluable. But if you’d like to really get a personal message across, you might resort to pen and paper. Handwritten notes can have a lot more impact than digital ones, and you don’t even need to compose a longwinded message. Just pin them to the fridge.

Buy small presents

You don’t need to wait for a significant birthday or Christmas to roll around before you put your hand in your pocket and buy them a small gift. Try to pay attention to your friend’s tastes, and shop accordingly. For example, if you’re shopping for a beer lover, then you might look into craft IPAs, which can be just the thing to fuel a night in front of a film. Now’s the perfect time to find a post office near you through this page and surprise them with something simple yet unforgettable!

Remember important dates

Just because you’re buying presents even when it isn’t their birthday doesn’t mean that you can afford to neglect the big day itself. Make a note of significant birthdays and anniversaries, ideally using pen and paper, or the calendar on your mobile phone. Don’t just go by what Facebook tells you, because Facebook can sometimes be wrong.

Organise nights out

If you don’t make the time to go out and have fun with your friends, then you might find that your friends drift away from you over time. Plus, if you don’t enjoy spending time with your friends, then can you really call them your friends?

You don’t have to restrict yourself to a certain type of leisure activity. Not everyone enjoys going clubbing, after all. You might also throw in a few short trips. A weekend away in a seaside town, or on a camping expedition, might be just the thing to bring you and your friends that little bit closer together.
