Few body products have had as much hype when they launched as the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream.
It has become the cult-favorite body cream of many, and for good reason.
This striking tub of body cream has an addictive scent, a gorgeous texture and skincare ingredients aimed at targeting the difficult to tone butt area.
However the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream is not a budget buy.
The full size 240ml tub costs $48 USD (or £46 / €53) making it a very expensive product. Especially if you love to slather this all over.
Luckily there are a growing number of Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream dupes on the market and many are a fraction of the cost.

What does the Bum Bum Cream do?
Sol de Janeiro’s Bum Bum Cream is designed to firm loose and sagging skin.
It can be applied all over the body for this very use, so is good for the stomach and arms as well as thighs.

It is also great for moisturizing, leaving you with softer and smoother skin.
Bum Bum Cream ingredients
Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream has a number of key ingredients which make it so good.
Guaraná extract: guaraná contains five times more caffeine than coffee. When applied to the skin it has a tightening effect which can improve the appearance of cellulite.
Cupuaçu butter: similar to shea butter, cupuaçu butter is high in fatty acids which lock in moisture and keep skin looking plump and smooth.
Açaí oil: this is an antioxidant which protects skin from pollution and other environmental factors.
Coconut oil: this is amazing for dry skin and is a fast-absorbing product which intensely moisturizes.
Mica: little particles that leave the skin with a glowy look.
Brazil nut oil: high in selenium which protects skin against inflammation and pigmentation.
What smell is Bum Bum Cream?
Sol de Janeiro’s Bum Bum Cream is scented with their own Cheirosa 62 fragrance.
This is a blend of pistachio, vanilla bean extract and salted caramel which is as delicious-smelling as it sounds.

The scent of Bum Bum Cream is one of its major selling points and one of the reasons people love it.

The Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream dupes
If the high price tag of this product puts you off, don’t worry.
There are lots of Bum Bum Cream dupes out there which cost a lot less.
Here is every dupe for Bum Bum Cream:

Tree Hut Tropic Glow Firming Whipped Body Butter $10.49
This is about as close a dupe as you can get to the real thing.
The ingredients are so similar to Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream (pistachio seed oil, cupuaçu seed butter and guaraná) and it even has mica for that glowy complexion.
Its fragrance is also pretty much a dead ringer – Tree Hut’s product is just on the slightly lighter side.

Baked Beauty Skincare Bum Bum Whipped Body Butter $15
This is one amazing Bum Bum dupe and it is around a third of the price too.
It smells exactly like Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream and is made with only organic and natural ingredients including coconut butter, coconut oil, vitamin E oil and mica for that glowy sheen.
This is the best product on the list if you love to use clean skincare.

Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Butter $5.99
Widely considered to be one of the best Bum Bum Cream dupes. It has the same coconut oil base as well as guaraná extract and açaí for soft and firm skin.
The Trader Joe’s Bum Bum Cream dupe has a scent that is an almost perfect dupe of the Bum Bum Cream’s fragrance with the same pistachio scent alongside salted caramel and notes of vanilla.
Available in Trader Joe’s stores and online

Nutrius Brazilian Body Butter Cream $24.99
Just one glance at this tub of body cream makes it clear that it is meant to be a dupe for Bum Bum Cream.
It has very similar ingredients to the real deal including cupuaçu butter, guaraná and açaí as well as coconut oil.
It has a great smell which is very similar to Bum Bum Cream and is found at Costco and online.

Aldi Lacura Booty Balm
This is a worthy dupe for the original Bum Bum Cream due to the ingredients and look of the product.
It contains both guaraná extract and coconut oil. The scent is not the same however. Aldi’s dupe has more of a tropical island scent rather than the gourmand scent of Sol de Janeiro’s product.
The biggest bonus to this cream, however, is the very affordable price.

& Other Stories Perle de Coco Body Soufflé $17
If the luscious rich scent of Bum Bum Cream is the thing you love the most about it, you will love this Bum Bum dupe from & Other Stories.
The blend of vanilla, coconut and caramel provides an almost identical smell.
While this product doesn’t claim to firm or tone, it will leave you smelling delicious and is much more affordable. It also comes as a fragrance and lotion.

Better Shea Butter Better Bum Bum Cream $30.50
First of all, the fragrance of this body butter is not at all similar to Sol de Janeiro’s.

The ingredients are more natural/less synthetic and therefore this is a great dupe if you want a cheaper, cleaner option.

This body lotion comes in a convenient bottle rather than a tub and is much cheaper than Bum Bum Cream.

This means that Sol de Janeiro can charge a premium price for the product, knowing that people will be willing to pay it.
Whether or not Bum Bum Cream is worth the price is a matter of personal opinion. Some people find the product to be worth the investment, while others prefer to save their money and use a more affordable body lotion. Personally, as much as I love the delicious scent and feel of this product, I find it too expensive for regular purchase and prefer to use my favorite Bum Bum Cream dupe at a fraction of the price instead.
The Brazil Nut Body Butter from Trader Joe’s is an excellent dupe for Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. Both products have a similar scent, which is described as a salted caramel and pistachio scent. They also have similar ingredients, including coconut oil, acai extract, and guarana extract. However, the Brazil Nut Body Butter is significantly cheaper than the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream.

The name “Bum Bum Cream” is a play on the Brazilian Portuguese word “bumbum,” which means “butt.” The name is meant to evoke the image of a smooth, toned, and well-cared-for backside. This Sol de Janeiro cream is also marketed as a way to “enhance” the appearance of the bum, which is why it is called “Bum Bum Cream.”
