Top NYX Dupes for High-End Makeup Products

Last updated: December 23, 2024

NYX Cosmetics have a lot of dupes for high end makeup, and these are the top NYX dupes I’ve found that are just like high-end products. My go-to NYX dupe, their Butter Gloss in the shade Bit of Honey, is top of my list because it’s a perfect match for Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow.

Coming in a close second is NYX’s Fat Oil Lip Drip, which gives nearly identical high-shine lip oil realness as the iconic Dior Lip Oil for a fraction of the designer price tag.

I love discovering a good dupe and have really enjoyed swatching, testing and comparing these products to their more expensive counterparts. Like most people I adore NYX because they are affordable, cruelty free and great quality makeup products.

Here’s some NYX products you should check out next time you’re in the drugstore because they’re some of the best drugstore makeup dupes around.

NYX Butter Gloss $6 vs Fenty Gloss Bomb $21

NYX Bit of Honey and Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb

NYX’s shade Bit of Honey is so similar to Fenty Glow in Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb range that I really can’t tell the difference when wearing both.

The Butter Glosses are smooth and non-sticky lip products, just like the Gloss Bombs. This type of shade is such a regular, no-nonsense everyday color for lots of skin tones and it’s really easy to throw on.

I love the Gloss Bomb but think I prefer the NYX product as it just feels that bit more hydrating on the lips. It’s also a fraction of the price, which is ideal as I use this shade on a daily basis.

NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip $9 vs Dior Lip Glow Oil $40

NYX Fat Oil and Dior lip glow side by side

NYX’s viral Fat Oils are such a similar product to the famous Dior Lip Oil, it’s pretty much a no-brainer to pick up the drugstore dupe over the real deal.

I find the two to look almost identical when worn. The level of shine is incredibly similar, and since the different shades are all very sheer there’s very little difference between any of them.

Again I think I prefer the NYX Fat Oil to the pricey Dior product. It’s less sticky and tacky, and more of a lightweight formula. While it doesn’t last as long as Dior, you really can’t go wrong with this cheaper option.

NYX Slim Lip Pencil $5 vs MAC Lip Liner $24

NYX nude beige lip liner and mac oak lip liner

There are a lot of lip pencils from NYX which match the MAC shades in their lip liner range.

My favorite NYX dupe for a MAC liner is their Slim Lip Pencil in the shade Nude Beige. This is an exact match for MAC’s Oak Lip Liner, a gorgeous soft light beige which makes a great color combination with most nude lipsticks and is one of my all time favorites. I’ve not found a better match yet than the NYX one.

NYX lip liners and MAC pencils have a similar texture. They both have a creamy formula and last a long time when applied. The only differences here are the much higher price tag of MAC and the fact MAC is not cruelty free, whereas NYX is.

NYX Sweet Cheeks Blush $9.50 vs Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Blush $23

NYX baby doll blush and Rare Beauty Grace Blush

Rare Beauty’s liquid blush is a great product, but you can get a very similar look with this NYX blush if you want a cheaper alternative.

In particular, the shade Baby Doll from NYX is a dead ringer for Rare Beauty’s blush in the shade Grace. They’re both soft, natural mauve-pink shades that give a subtle flush to the cheeks.

The NYX Sweet Cheeks blush isn’t quite as liquidy and blendable, but it still gives a lovely natural flush. And there’s no denying it’s much easier on the wallet. For a fraction of the cost, this is a great dupe.

NYX Fat Oil Slick Click $11 vs Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump $24

NYX Slick Click Fat Oil and Tarte Petunia Juicy Plump

If you love the look of Tarte’s Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump but don’t want to pay the price, check out NYX’s Fat Oil Slick Click pen.

These moisturizing lip oils have a similar glossy formula that makes lips look juicy and plump. In particular, NYX’s Going Viral shade is an almost exact dupe for Tarte’s Petunia. They are both rosy pink tones that add the perfect pop of natural-looking color.

The applicator, feel and finish of these oils is very comparable. They spread smoothly without any stickiness. Both contain nourishing ingredients like vitamin E and feel more comfortable than a traditional lip gloss.

The only noticeable difference is that the NYX product’s finish is ever so slightly less glass-like. But for less than half the price, NYX’s version definitely holds its own!

NYX Slim Lip Pencil $5 vs Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat $25

NYX peekaboo neutral and Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk

Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat liner in Pillow Talk is famously one of the most flattering nude pink lip liner shades out there. But the price tag is steep.

An impressively close dupe for a fraction of the cost is NYX’s Peekaboo Neutral Lip Liner. These pinky nudes are nearly identical on the lips. They both have a creamy, blendable texture that helps lip color last.

The main difference I notice is that NYX’s shade leans a hair more brown, while Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk has a touch more mauve. But when worn with a similar lipstick, the effect is so similar.

For me, the NYX liner applies just as easily and wears just as well. Considering it’s 5 times cheaper, NYX Peekaboo Neutral is a total steal!

NYX Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray $10 vs Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray $36

urban decay setting spray and NYX setting spray comparison

Urban Decay’s All Nighter setting spray is a cult favorite for locking your makeup in place all day or night. But it comes with a price tag to match its popularity.

A more affordable alternative that works surprisingly well is NYX’s Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray. Both products claim to keep makeup from fading or transferring for up to 16 hours.

When tested side by side, I find both setting sprays perform very similarly. They both leave a tacky finish initially before drying down. While Urban Decay seems to make makeup last maybe an hour or two longer, the NYX still keeps everything locked down with impressive staying power.

For less than 1/3 of the price of Urban Decay, NYX’s setting spray is a great dupe. The effects are comparable and it definitely outperforms most drugstore setting sprays.

NYX Matte Bronzer $10 vs Too Faced Soleil Bronzer $36

NYX deep tan bronzer next to Too Face Dark Chocolate bronzer

The Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzers are cult favorites for their blendable, neutral bronzer shades. But the higher price tag can make you think twice.

A spot-on dupe shade and formula comes from NYX’s matte bronzers. Specifically, NYX Matte Bronzer in Deep Tan looks just like Too Faced’s Dark Chocolate on skin.

Both of these neutral bronzers are matte, cool toned browns that mimic a natural looking shadow. They have excellent color payoff without being too warm or orange.

The main difference is that the NYX bronzer has a slightly more powdery texture. But it blends beautifully onto skin without looking muddy. For around 1⁄4 of the price of Too Faced, this affordable bronzer dupes the look flawlessly!

FAQs:

Are NYX products cruelty-free?

Yes! NYX is certified cruelty-free by PETA, meaning they don’t test any of their beauty products or ingredients on animals.

Where are NYX products available?

NYX is mostly sold at drugstores like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid and also at major retailers like Target and Ulta.

How does NYX compare to mid-range brands overall?

From my experience testing many NYX products against pricier competitors, they stand up very well! While sometimes they fall a bit shorter on things like pigmentation and longevity, the differences are often negligible. Considering NYX costs 3-5x less, it’s an amazing value brand.
