It was a sad day in September 2021 when Becca Cosmetics went out of business after twenty years.
With it we lost some cult favorite products from Becca, some of which were unfortunately never to return.
While makeup brand Smashbox eventually brought back the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector and the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop, others were lost to us forever.
One of the products never to grace the beauty shelves again was the Becca Backlight Priming Filter.
The Becca Backlight Primer was a cult classic.
It was adored by so many who loved the luminous yet natural-looking glow this product gave the skin.
You could wear it alone or under makeup where it blurred large pores and diffused light for a lit-from-within glow thanks to its luminescent pearls.
While you can still pick up the Becca Backlight Primer on eBay it tends to be at an inflated price.
A great alternative is to get a Becca Backlight Primer dupe instead.
The Becca Backlight Primer dupes
Below are all the best Becca Backlight Priming Filter dupes that will give you very similar results.
Most of these are a fraction of the price of the Becca primer when it was available.
It’s worth noting that Becca’s primer was a fairly unique product so it is quite hard to dupe.
However there are some products which come very close and once applied under foundation the look they give is so incredibly similar.
While you may still miss the awesome Becca Backlight Priming Filter you can still get the gorgeous glow it gave with any of these products.

This dupe for Becca Backlight Priming Filter comes in a few different shades.
The shade Moonbeam is the closest in color to the Becca primer.
However there are darker shades so if Becca’s primer was a little too light for you, you could try a darker shade.
This Becca Backlight Primer dupe contains light-reflecting pearls which diffuse light for that radiant glow the Becca primer gave.
It’s also a really affordable dupe and is cruelty free.
Physician’s Formula Spotlight Illuminating Primer
This drugstore dupe for Becca Backlight Primer is a really similar luminous primer.
It’s considered a great dupe because the color is very similar and under makeup application it looks almost identical.
This Becca Backlight Primer dupe also has a blurring effect which helps with an uneven skin tone and fine lines.
There are some skin-friendly ingredients too like Vitamin A and Vitamin E.
Just like Becca’s product, you can wear this alone or under foundation.
Wet n Wild Photofocus Dewy Face Primer
The color of this primer is very similar to Becca’s Backlight Priming Filter, as it has that champagne tint to it.
As the name suggests, this primer gives a dewy finish that makes it one of the best Becca dupes.
This product gives a very similar subtle glow under makeup but can also be used alone or as a liquid highlighter on top of makeup.
Wet n Wild’s primer contains glycerin which is great for dry skin, yet still has a lightweight formula which sits well under makeup.
It’s also a very affordable product and is also from a cruelty free brand.
Mecca Max Bring On Bright Illuminating Primer
This primer, currently only available in Australia, has been called an amazing Becca Backlight Priming Filter dupe.
It’s a really versatile product that can be worn alone, mixed with foundation or worn on top as a highlighter.
Mecca’s primer is very lightweight and has the scent of green apples.
The finish is very similar to Becca Backlight Primer and it leaves you with a really gorgeous glow underneath foundation.
Rare Beauty Always an Optimist Illuminating Primer
This is an exceptionally good face primer which makes an awesome replacement for Becca Backlight Priming Filter.
It contains ultra-fine pearls that give the luminous glow that Becca was so famous for.
Rare Beauty’s primer has the same champagne tint as Backlight Priming Filter and will make your skin glow without sparkle.
It also contains some lovely skin-soothing ingredients like lotus flower, white waterlily and gardenia which makes it ideal for sensitive skin.
It is on the more expensive side so doesn’t have a drugstore price but you can get smaller versions to try it out before committing to full size.

Soap And Glory Hocus Focus Instant Visual Flaw Softening Illuminator
This was sadly discontinued which was a shame as people really loved this product.
The shade is more of a cool pink corrector rather than the champagne color of Becca’s primer, but on the skin they are barely any different.
Sephora Collection Beauty Amplifier Afterglow Primer & Luminizer
This was a very affordable luminizer from Sephora which was unfortunately discontinued.
However if you still have it in your collection then you already have a good Becca Backlight Priming Filter dupe in your beauty stash.
The tones are very similar and you can use them in the same way as each other.
The Backlight Priming Filter was one of the most favorite Becca products of so many people, so it was really upsetting when the brand disappeared.
The Backlight Primer was the perfect product to give you a glowy look under makeup.
Fortunately any Becca Backlight Primer dupe from above will give you the same look.
